Sonia Chaidez (Instructional Media Designer at Whittier College and Co-coordinator for DigLibArts; Whittier College's Digital Liberal Arts Center) lends her perspective to the task of planning the DH model for Whittier College's DigLibArts DH collaboratory, with a retrospective view into the DHSI2015 course, "Models for DH at Liberal Arts Colleges (& 4 Year Institutions)" led by DHi Co-Directors Angel David Nieves and Janet Simons.Sonia also mentions her experience with DHi's dhQuest, a game designed for the DHSI class as part of an interactive learning experience, modeling the tasks and challenges involved in designing a DH center for an institution. From her article:
What I’ve found is that DH is not all about using tools; it’s about finding new ways to ask —and answer research questions using technologies and methodologies to aid in discovery. It’s an opportunity to involve students in research that asks critical questions about media studies. It’s about the why, who, when and where of digital pedagogy. It’s about building networks to support digital scholarship.
